with octagonal rifled barrels, engraved locks, full stocks, chequered butts and steel mounts: in their fitted case lined with green baize and complete with some accessories including brass flask, together with a pair of Ottoman flintlock holster pistols, Turkey, early 19th century, with tapering barrels, strongly bevelled locks, moulded full stocks, and brass mounts cast with foliage in low relief
Condition
A Cased Pair of French Rifled Percussion Pistols
Further to the catalogue images and description, one swamped, multi-grooved rifled barrel remains in good condition with traces of browned finish and gold inscription, CANON TORDU (rubbed). The other barrel is cleaned with areas of light pitting. The left of the breech is stamped with St. Etienne proof mark (Neue Støckel 8745) Both Locks are functional and in good condition. The stocks remain in generally good condition, and one butt is cracked through and repaired. The mounts remain in generally good condition. Each pistol retains its horn tipped whalebone ramrod. The case is in generally good condition, the interior lining is faded, and all of the accessories are original to the case and pistols, including bullet mould and powder flask. The loading mallet is cracked.
Turkish Pistols
Further to the catalogue images and description, the barrels remain in good condition with small areas of light rubbing. The locks are both functioning and the engraving is crisp. The stocks are rustically carved with the exception of one small crack ahead of one lock and one extensive chip behind the other lock. The brass mounts are in good condition as are the simulated ramrods.
