Gemälde Öl auf Leinwand,
Condition
The picture is less red in tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest. The canvas has a wax lining and the paint surface is in good overall condition. There are some minor retouchings visible under a raking light to the background upper left, the costume below the necklace and to an area of what appears to be old repaired damage in his forehead and right eyebrow. Examination under ultraviolet confirms the presence of the aforementioned retouching and reveals a few further minor flecks in the background and to his costume. A mottled varnish impedes inspection. Offered unframed.
