- approximately 302cm. high, 194cm. wide; 9ft. 11in., 6ft. 4in.
within a four-sided woven gold and red frame pattern border
Condition
Finely woven tapestry. With balanced colour.
All corners of borders cut and joined. Tip of top left corner and horizontal section of the far right border, are 19th century reweaving. All outer selvedges later. There are small areas of repair, for example lower inner corners of main panel left and right. Later highlights, for example to the features of faces (lips and some of eyes). Some weakness to the light areas of weave of the saddle bag on the back of the horse.
Tapestry lined with blue cotton and applied with hessian banding across the top with hoops. Recommend Velcro added for hanging purposes in the future.
Finely woven with some lovely detailing. Good size and a sense of perspective.
