The canvas is unlined and in beautiful condition, with the paint surface intact, no flaking or loss of paint. There is a slight mottle under raking light due to the age of the paint. Inspection under ultraviolet light shows an area of repair measuring 9 cm in the background upper left, right by the frame. Otherwise there are just scattered tiny dots of retouching on the Virgin's veil. The painting is otherwise untouched and in well-preserved condition. This lot is sold in a wooden frame, painted gold.
