Condition
The prints are in good condition, the full sheets. Plates I, II, IX, XIII, XV and XVI with pale light-stain in the image. Pale mat-stain in the margins of plates IV, V, VI, X and XIV. Time-stain at the extreme sheet edges of plates V, IX, X, XI and XII. Unobtrusive foxing, on the versos of plates I, II, VI, IX, X, XI, XVI and XVII.
State I: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. Pale-light stain surrounding the image. The verso, with three fox marks.
State II: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. Pale-light stain surrounding the image and a vertical band of discoloration 1/2 inch wide along the right sheet edge. The left sheet edge at center with an area of discoloration at center. The verso, with three fox marks.
State III: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. Pale-light stain surrounding the image. The verso, with an occasional area of surface soiling.
State IV: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. The margins are mat-stained. The verso, with an occasional area of surface soiling.
State V: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. The margins are unobtrusively mat-stained with time-stain at the extreme sheet edges.
State VI: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. The margins are unobtrusively mat-stained and there is one fox margin in the bottom margin.
State VII: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. The paper is stained below the bottom fold in the curtain and the right side of the verso, not showing through to the sleeping figure's face.
State VIII: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. The paper is unobtrusively light-stained.
State IX: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. The extreme sheet edges are time-stained with a window of pale light-stain in the image. The verso, with an occasional fox mark.
State X: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. The extreme sheet edges are time-stained and there is mat-stain in the margins. The bottom sheet edge, verso, with occasional fox marks.
State XI: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. The extreme sheet edges are time-stained. The verso, with an occasional fox mark.
State XII: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. The extreme sheet edges are time-stained.
State XIII: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. There is a window of pale light-stain around the image.
State XIV: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. There is mat-stain in the margins of the sheet.
State XV: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. There is a window of pale light-stain around the image.
State XVI: The print is in good condition, the full sheet. There is a window of pale-light stain. An occasional fox mark in the right and bottom margins. There is a fox mark in the center of the sheet, verso.
