Lithograph printed in black, red and yellow, 1892, one of Wittrock's four trial proofs and one of two known impressions of the color stones without the olive-green key stone, on two joined sheets, linen-backed, printed by Ancourt, Paris, published by Victor Joze, framed

Condition

The print is in good condition with margins on all sides and linen-backed sheets. Both sheets are unevenly discolored, the yellow has darkened and the red is slightly attenuated. Strips of white tape affix the sheets to the foam-core mount from the front. Several tears extend from the extreme sheet edges, the largest measuring 16 inches. Several areas of mottled discoloration in the sheets, particularly towards the perimeters of the sheet. Black surface soiling or stray ink in the woman's shoulder. Additional imperfections include unobtrusive creasing throughout and inconspicuous areas of paper loss in the lower right and top left corners.

Catalogue Note

According to Wittrock, Toulouse-Lautrec excluded the olive-green key stone from two of four total trial proofs.  Lots 128 and 129 are the two cited by Wittrock.
