Lithograph, 1897, the first of Wittrock's six trial proofs and the only known impression of the key stone printed in dark brown, and the color stone printed in gray-brown, on laid paper backed with Japan, framed

Condition

The print is in generally good condition with wide margins and Japan backed wove paper. A partially torn horizontal crease extends across the center of the image and the top half of the lithograph is foxed. Paper loss in the top right corner. Additional imperfections include pale mat-stain, occasional surface soiling, inconspicuous handling creases visible in raking light, and a finger print in the top margin at center. The verso, unevenly discolored, with three hinge remnants and three discolored adhesive stains on the right side of the sheet.
