Christie's New York, Crossing America: Photographs from the Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part I, 7 April 2011, Sale 2522, Lot 309
Condition
This photograph, on smooth double-weight paper, is in generally good condition. In raking light, several soft and sharp creases are visible overall, including a 2-inch vertical crease in the lower left corner that appears to break the emulsion. Also visible in raking light is a long soft impression, which extends into the image from the lower margin. A few small areas of discoloration - possibly soiling - are visible in the margins.
Impressions from the writing on the reverse of the print are visible in the lower margin. The following is written in an unidentified hand in pencil on the reverse: 'Dorothea Lange: Oakland, Ca. 1952' and '45032.'
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print appears to fluoresce.
