with black ink borders, the photographer's 'Köln Lindenthal' blindstamp on the image, his studio stamp on the reverse, tipped to a paper mount, signed by the photographer and titled by Gunther Sander, the photographer's son, in pencil on the mount, a 'Cöln Lindenthal / Dürenrstra' studio label on the reverse, framed, a Halsted 831 Gallery, Birmingham, label on the reverse, circa 1926, probably printed in the 1950s (cf. Citizens of the Twentieth Century, p. 354)
Condition
This print, on double-weight semi-glossy paper, is in generally excellent condition. Visible only upon extremely close examination in raking light are a few tiny impressions overall that do not appear to break the emulsion. There is minute wear to the black ink edges. The reverse of the print is lightly soiled.
This photograph is tipped along the upper edge to a cream-colored, lightly-textured paper mount. There are a few tiny rust-colored areas near the edges periphery of the mount, and the lower right corner is creased. On the reverse of the mount, a portion of the photographer's 'Cöln Lindenthal / Dürenrstra' studio label is visible in the upper right corner. Also on the reverse, '4,' '900,' and '21' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil.
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print appears to fluoresce.
