  • 'GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE'
  • GELATIN SILVER PRINT
the photographer's Federal Art Project 'Changing New York,' 'Duplicate,' and caption stamps, with title, date, and annotations in ink, on the reverse, 1937 (Yochelson, North of 59th Street, pl. 29)

Condition

This early contact print, on double-weight paper with a slight texture and surface sheen, is in generally excellent condition. The right edge of the image is somewhat warm-toned. Upon close examination, a few tiny rust-colored deposits of indeterminate nature are visible in the central portion of the image. The black margin edges are lightly rubbed and the corners are bumped. In the upper and lower margins, there are 4 small clamp impressions. The reverse of the print is appropriately age-darkened and lightly soiled. The 'Changing New York' caption stamp on the reverse is annotated in ink with the following information: Title: 'George Washington Bridge' Place: 'Riverside Drive and 179th Street, Manhattan' Neg. # '265 Code: 'II A-5-b'' Date: 'November 16, 1937'
