the photographer's Federal Art Project 'Changing New York' and caption stamps, with title, date, and annotations in ink, on the reverse, 1935 (Yochelson, Middle East Side, pl. 16)
Condition
This early contact print, on smooth double-weight paper with a slight sheen, is in generally very good condition. While the highlights remain bright, the midtones are somewhat warm. Upon close examination, tiny deposits of original retouching are visible overall. The black margin edges are lightly worn, and the tips of the corners are rounded. In the upper margin, there are 2 small clamp impressions.
The reverse of the print is appropriately age-darkened and lightly soiled. The 'Changing New York' caption stamp on the reverse is annotated in ink with the following information:
Title: 'Murray Hill Hotel: Spiral'
Place: 'Thru Park Avenue and 40th Street, Manhattan'
Neg. # '37'
Code: 'I A 1'
Date: 'November 19, 1935'
