the photographer's Federal Art Project 'Changing New York' and caption stamps, with title, date, and annotations in ink, on the reverse, 1938 (Yochelson, Greenwich Village, pl. 33)
Condition
This early contact print, on smooth double-weight paper with a semi-glossy surface, is in generally very good condition. Upon close examination in raking light the following are visible in the lower-central portion of the image: a sharp 3/4-inch crescent-shaped crease that does not appear to break the emulsion and a one-inch linear crease that does appear to break the emulsion. There are 4 small clamp impressions in the black margin corners, which are also lightly creased.
The reverse of the print is appropriately age-darkened at the edges. The 'Changing New York' caption stamp on the reverse is annotated in ink with the following information:
Title: 'Milligan Place'
Place: 'Manhattan'
Neg. # '82'
Code: 'I-A-2'
Date: '12/31/38'
