- 'VISTA: THAMES STREET'
- GELATIN SILVER PRINT
numbered '282' in the negative, the photographer's Federal Art Project 'Changing New York' and caption stamps, with title, date, and annotations in ink, on the reverse, 1938 (Yochelson, Lower West Side, pl. 4)
Condition
This early, pleasingly warm-toned contact print, on smooth double-weight paper with a surface sheen, is in generally very good to excellent condition. Upon close examination, 3 tiny matte deposits, possibly original retouching, are visible in upper right quadrant. There is silvering in the black margin edges, which also exhibit some wear, creasing, and loss of emulsion. In the upper margin, there are 2 small clamp impressions. These do not in detract from the overall fine appearance of this print.
The reverse of the print is appropriately age-darkened at the left and top edges. The 'Changing New York' caption stamp on the reverse is annotated in ink with the following information:
Title: 'Vista: Thames Street'
Place: 'Manhattan'
Neg. # '282'
Code: 'I-T[?]'
Date: 'February 15, 1938'
