Condition

Fifth Avenue - This platinum print is in generally excellent condition. There is miniscule edge wear and a few tiny deposits of original retouching visible upon very close examination. The photograph is tipped at its upper left corner to cream-colored paper, on the reverse of which 'Altmans' is written in pencil. The paper mount has separated from the secondary mount and is tipped only at the upper left corner. The secondary mount is debossed buff-colored card, which is age-appropriately darkened at the periphery of the primary mount. It is also lightly soiled, and there is a 2-inch sharp crease in the upper right corner. The reverse of the mount is appropriately age-darkened, and the following numbers are written in an unidentified hand in pencil: 'N. Y. Altman's,' '5-29 275,' '2.10,' '10,' and 'W1167.' This photograph was acquired from Christie's New York, 5 October 1999, Sale 9298, Lot 182. East 37th Street - This platinum print is in generally excellent condition. There is miniscule edge wear upon very close examination. The underlying mount is cream-colored heavy paper manufactured by Enfield & Co. It is somewhat age-darkened along the right edge, and there is evidence of light foxing. The intermediate paper mount is cream-colored, and the photograph is tipped to off-white card. The intermediate mount is tipped to the underlying mount at its upper left corner. A one-inch tear along the lower left corner of the mount appears to have been repaired. Light foxing and soiling is visible on the reverse.
