Condition

Early prints in this size format by Roman Vishniac are scarce. This early print, on warm-toned paper that has a slightly matte surface, is in generally good condition. The print is trimmed to the image. There is a small loss at the lower left corner, and the edges and corners of the print are worn with some attendant chipping. There are scattered scuffs throughout the image and a few small scratches, with losses of emulsion, near the right edge of the print. There is uneven discoloration, primarily near the sitter's face and hair. There is light silvering in the dark areas at the edges. The reverse is uniformly discolored, possibly from old adhesive. When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
