Description

  • Minor White
  • 'TWISTED TREE'
  • GELATIN SILVER PRINT
mounted, signed and dated in pencil on the mount, signed, titled, dated, and annotated 'Lobos' in pencil on the reverse, 1950, printed no later than 1967 (The Eye That Shapes, cover and pl. 126)

Provenance

Acquired from the photographer, 1967

Condition

This early print is in generally excellent condition. In raking light, faint silvering is visible in the dark areas at the lower edge. There are scattered surface scratches and impressions, none of which appears to break the emulsion. The mount is appropriately age-darkened and soiled, particularly at the upper edge on the reverse. Also on the reverse, 'D.E.H.reg. 3103' is written in an unidentified hand in pencil. Although 'The Eye That Shapes' dates this image as 1951, this print is dated '1950' by the photographer on the mount and on the reverse of the mount.
