Condition
This early warm-toned print is on medium weight paper with a semi-glossy surface. In raking light, uneven silvering is visible primarily in the dark areas of the image. A few small handling creases are also visible upon close inspection. This print is trimmed to the image and the corners are rounded.
The reverse of the print is darkened and soiled. Also on the reverse are the following notations in an unidentified hand: 'Vaux, August 1918, after last fighting, notice how well the road is fixed up' (in ink); 'Original' (in pencil and underlined in ink); '(Vaux August)' (in pencil); and 'Spec Avia Cont' [?] (in pencil).
