Condition
This photograph, on paper with an eggshell texture and glossy surface, is in generally excellent condition. There is a miniscule chip along the upper left edge. A few small raised areas are only visible in raking light upon very close examination.
The mount is inscribed in ink 'For Meroe with Love.' The mount is clean and exhibits only minor age-darkening at its edges.
Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. The authors' assessment of the use dates of stamp 5 and 6 on the reverse of the print's mount is 1962-63. Stamp 6 is annotated in ink: Negative No. '1-5-129' and Credit 'Sierra Club.'
