Description

  • Alma Lavenson
  • 'AVOCADO LEAVES'
  • Gelatin silver print
signed, titled, and dated in pencil and ink on the reverse, framed, 1931

Provenance

Page Imageworks, San Francisco, 1990

Condition

This early, slightly warm-toned print, is in generally excellent condition. It is on stiff double-weight paper with a slight surface sheen and is trimmed to the image. In raking light, faint silvering is visible in the dark areas of the image. The tip of the upper right corner appears to be lightly creased. Yellowed adhesive remnants on the reverse of the print indicate that it was originally affixed to a mount. The reverse is titled in ink and signed and dated 'N 1931 P 1931' in pencil. Also on the reverse in an unidentified hand in pencil is '#20.' When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
