Description

Condition

This early print is on semi-glossy paper and is in generally very good condition. When the print is examined very closely, some faint yellowing can be seen at the print's edges. This is not immediately apparent, nor does it detract from the overwhelmingly fine appearance of this early print. Age-appropriate silvering is visible in raking light in the dark areas of the image. A few tiny matte deposits of indeterminate nature and several thin, faint, linear scratches are visible upon the closest examination. This print is affixed to buff-colored card. There are 3 small isolated areas of dampstaining along the lower and right edges of the mount, not affecting the print or the signature. There is a tiny loss to the tip of the lower left mount corner. There are tape and adhesive remnants on the reverse of the mount. A yellowed piece of masking tape partially obscures the negative number '76[R]' and date. There is a band of discoloration along the upper and left mount edge on the reverse. The Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, holds the negative for this image. Conger locates no other prints of this image. Weston's negative log in the Center for Creative Photography, Tuscon, records prints numbered 1 through 6, with prints 3 and 4 described later in the log as 'destroyed.'
