Description
- Bill Brandt
- 'MINER AT HIS EVENING MEAL'
- Gelatin silver print
titled in ink and with the photographer's credit stamp on the reverse, framed, 1937, probably printed in the 1950s-60s (Shadow of Light, pl. 47)
Exhibited
Pittsburgh, Carnegie Museum of Art, Yours Truly: Privately Collected Photographs, December 2012 - March 2013
Condition
This print, on single-weight paper with a surface sheen and thin margins, is in generally good condition. In raking light, a number of scratches, small impressions, and handling creases (some of which appear to break the emulsion) are visible overall.
The upper left corner is creased at the tip of the image, and the margin corners are bumped and rounded. There is minor soiling on the reverse of the print. Also on the reverse, 'BRA1-031/01' is written in an unidentified hand in pencil.
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print appears to fluoresce.
This photograph was acquired from Danziger Gallery, New York.
