Description

  • Daido Moriyama
  • LUNCH COUNTER WITH SELF-PORTRAIT SHADOW
  • silver gelatin print
ferrotyped, signed in English and Japanese in pencil on the reverse, framed, 1970s

Condition

This ferrotyped print is in generally good condition. As is typical of ferrotyped prints, superficial surface scratches, pitting, and an unevenness of the generally glossy surface are visible. In raking light, several sharp and crescent-shaped creases, not appearing to break the emulsion, are visible. Upon close examination, a tiny loss of emulsion and a slight lifting of the emulsion are visible in the left portion of the image. There is a light green deposit of indeterminate nature in the lower margin, and 'TOP' is annotated in black ink in the upper margin. The margin corners and edges are lightly worn. On the reverse, '81' '[circled]' is written in an unidentified hand in green ink. The reverse is soiled, primarily at the edges.
