Description

  • Alfred Stieglitz, Editor
  • CAMERA WORK NUMBER 36
  • Photogravures
(New York: Alfred Stieglitz, 1911), illustrated with 16 photogravures after photographs by Alfred Stieglitz and one half-tone reproduction after a work by Pablo Picasso.  4to, original gray wrappers, 1911

Condition

The plates are in generally excellent condition. A number of the plates have offsetting on the opposite pages. There is a pen-point-sized rust-colored area, possibly inherent in the paper, in the lower margin of 'The Terminal.' There are occasional fingerprints on some of the pages. The covers are lightly soiled, and there are multiple chips and losses along the edges of the covers. The backstrip is largely deteriorated, but the spine is intact.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
