Description

  • André Kertész
  • 'WATER TOWER'
  • gelatin silver print
titled and dated and with annotations in ink and pencil and the photographer's 'Photo by André Kertész' credit stamp on the reverse, 1962 (MoMA, p. 59)

Condition

This print, on glossy, double-weight paper, is in generally very good condition. In raking light, a few soft and sharp handling creases and linear and pen-point-sized impressions are visible overall. None of these appear to break the emulsion and are not immediately apparent when viewing the print under normal conditions. The upper margin corners are lightly creased. On the reverse, Kertész has dated this print '12-1-62/5' in ink. Also on the reverse are various annotations in an unidentified hand in pencil. There is some graphite residue on the reverse.
