Catalogue Note

This emotive and tender depiction of the Guardian Angel, likely dating to the 1630s, is an important addition to Dolci's corpus. The attribution is supported by a drawing, most likely a preparatory sketch for the painting, now in the Devonshire Collection, Chatsworth. A later version of the subject can be found in the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest.
