le corps repoussé de têtes de chérubins alternant avec des bouquets de fruits, sommant une frise de larges feuilles de laurier, les anses à attaches en serpents, avec une doublure rapportée

Some old restorations - many cracks and dents inside but not visible on the surface - a crack along the arms
Quelques restaurations anciennes - nombreuses fentes et petits chocs à l'intérieur mais peu visibles en surface - fine fente autour des armoiries -

Catalogue Note
Il ne subsiste pratiquement aucune pièce aux armes du Roi Louis XIV. Les armes gravées sur ce superbe seau à aspersion indique qu'il a certainement été exécuté pour la chapelle d'un des châteaux du Roi, avant qu'il ne s'installe à Versailles.
1666 est l'année où, en janvier, le Roi décide de faire du château de Saint-Germain en Laye où il est né en 1638, sa résidence principale.
