Copper is flat. two old filled losses can be seen in upper left background. other small losses along extreme upper edge and another loss at bottom center edge. three tiny losses in Virgin's red drapery at left, one pinprick loss in her hair and another small loss on St. John's shoulder at right. despite these, most of the paint surface on the figures has been well retained. under UV light: retouches as mentioned above; there is also retouching along outline of the right side of Virgin's face and on right eye. Offered in a carved and gilt oval frame with a small chip at the top.
