Description

  • David de Coninck
  • Roosters and a rabbit in a landscape
  • oil on copper, oval, unframed

Condition

Copper plate is flat. under a dirty, dull old varnish. there are some tiny, scattered losses here and there but mainly in the extreme lower portion of the central rooster. Another small loss on rooster at left and a tiny one on left side of rabbit. generally, though, the paint surface has been well retained and there is quite good detail in the birds, rabbit and landscape. under UV light the varnish fluoresces unevenly; there appears to be a possible area of retouching at far right middle edge and a few at extreme bottom edge.
