Description
- Rutilio Manetti
- Saint Catherine of Siena
- oil on canvas
Provenance
With Agnew and Sons Ltd., London (according to a label on the reverse).
Condition
The canvas is relined. Overall in good state with strong retention of modelling and shading. There are old scattered fills within the composition, some visible to the naked eye in the dark background as discolored retouches. Others are more subtly applied in the face, white drapery, and hands, though most are below the varnish and applied well, not disturbing to the naked eye. A light clean and re-application of these small retouches could benefit the picture. In a carved giltwood frame.
