Condition

Window mounted. On a blue/green paper which has faded. (check this). Overall condtion is good. Faint scattered fox marks on both recto and verso, most visible on verso at the lower half of the sheet. Sold in a large wooden frame, with bevelled decoration.

Catalogue Note

Hoin was known for his portraits, both painted and drawn, which are refined and delicately characterised.  This study, certainly taken from life and perhaps intended for a composition, is a vigorous and energetic work which captures the subject, in an informal pose, with great acuity.
