Condition
Laid down on old mount. Overall the condition is fairly good. There are a few very small brown spots/stains at the upper margin, barely visible. A few circular white spots in the paper in the upper section, they appear to be small defects/abrasions in the paper. some brown staining around the outer edges of the sheet. Otherwise medium is fresh and image still strong.

Catalogue Note
This magnificent fountain within the gardens of a Roman villa is also represented in two known oil paintings by Robert, one in the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg (fig.1),1 and another, in a vertical format, formerly in the Camille Groult collection.2 Similar compositions also appear in an engraving executed by Francois Janinet and in a black chalk drawing sold in 1986.3
