Catalogue Note
Very few drawings by the printmaker Nicolas Cochin are known. One that is reasonably similar in style to the present drawing is a sheet depicting The Presentation of the Keys to a City, recently provisionally attributed to Cochin, in the Musée Fabre, Montpellier.1 Also comparable is a drawing of The Entry of Louis XIV and Marie-Terèse into Paris, which is, along with two battle scenes and a Temptation of Saint Anthony, in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.2
