Description
- Cornelis Saftleven
- A standing youth, seen from behind
- Black chalk and two shades of gray wash;
bears numbering, verso: 14
Condition
Hinge mounted in two places to the upper edge. The remnants of some old tape lines the four edges of the sheet's verso. There are some old creases to the sheet and some surface dirt and minor rubbing in areas. There are two old pin prick holes to the upper and lower centre of the sheet and a small tear to the lower edge. There is also evidence of an old repair to the right of the youth's face, although this is only noticeable when held up to a light. Generally the medium is fresh throughout.

Catalogue Note
This drawing can be compared both stylistically and in subject to the work of Cornelis Saftleven, who as a draftsman is best known for his black chalk drawings of single figures, usually young men.
