Circle of Simone Cantarini

The canvas has an old relining and is stable. There are two old repaired tears upper left corner and in the centre. The paint surface is has undergone two campaigns of restoration, the dark background and figure of Saint Joachim has largely been repainted. The figure of the Virgin in the foreground is better-preserved. The paint is covered by a an old uneven varnish and requires a general cleaning.
