Description
- Neapolitan School, circa 1800
- A view of Naples from Capodimonte
- Gouache;
inscribed in gouache to the black surround: VEDUTA DI NAPOLI DA CAPODIMONTE
Condition
Hinge mounted to card. There are two tears to the upper edge in the top right corner and what appear to be two old repaired tears to the left edge. There is some very minor discoloration to the right edge of the sheet, otherwise the medium is still very fresh throughout with the colours vibrant.
The catalogue illustration does not show the black border to the lower edge of the work, which has an old repaired tear to the centre left. The left, right and upper edges have most probably been trimmed at some stage in the work's history, with the black borders to these three edges no longer present. The work is sold in a modern gilt frame.
