Workshop of Luca Signorelli

A workshop version of Signorelli's Flagellation in the Galleria Franchetti, Ca' d'Oro, Venice (see L. B. Kanter and T. Henry, Luca Signorelli. The Complete Paintings, London 2002, p. 226, no. 94, reproduced). This is possibly the picture listed by Berenson as the studio version formerly in the collection of Dr Reuling, Baltimore (see B. Berenson, Italian Pictures of the Renaissance. Central Italian and North Italian Schools, London 1968, vol. I, p. 395, and Kanter and Henry, op. cit., p. 260, no. 8, as a copy?).
