Condition

The panel is stable, slightly convex, and bevelled on all four sides. The paint surface is thick and in good condition, with the extremely delicate brushstrokes in the sky and clouds still intact and very represetative of air and movement of air. The faces of the two men on the right are rather clumsy, but those of the men on the left are superb, with very characteristic features well- captured and entertaining to view. Inspection under UV light reveals old spot retouching throughout the sky and to a lesser degree in the ice, otherwise there is no indication of restoration and clearly this work has been a well - looked after. It is offered in an old wood carved frame, unpainted, in good condition.
