Description
- The God Aeolus blowing the wind
- oil on paper, laid on board
Condition
The canvas has a hard relining and is very dirty. The sketching in paint is energetic. There are only parts of paint later which show some slight wear, the visible ground layer in other areas is due to the nature of the panter's exercise here. There are two faint marks where the canvas may have been folded in the past, these have been smoothened out by the relining. Insepction under UV light shows retouching in the God's hair, his neck, upper and lower right hand corners and to the centre of the left edge.
This lot is offered in a gilt frame, with mouldings, in fine condition.
