Condition

The copper panel is in good condition and the paint has recently been cleaned and revarnished. Overall Overall the paint surface remains very well-preserved, with details intact. There are tiny flakes of lost paint around the lower left corner, and three missing flakes in the right foot of the kneeling lady. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some areas of un-removed varnish (around the signature for example.) There are small areas of retouching below the left foot of the kneeling lady, in the upper part of the curtain, in the tablecloth and in the bookshelf behind the seated man (all less than 1x1cm. in size). Otherwise restoration is limited to tiny scattered retouchings. Offered in a gilt carved and moulded wooden frame, with small knocks to the gilding but no damage to the structure itself.
