Attributed to Domenico Maria Canuti

The canvas has an old relining. The paint surface us dirty and covered by a yellow varnish. There is some discoloured retouching visible in the back of the central nymph and in the far left side of the drape. There is a tiny surface dent centre right, 21 cm. from the lower edge. Inspection under ultra violet light shows restoration to the central nymph's left calf, a 2 cm. scratch on the left of her back, 4 small flecks in her right shoulder (as mentioned above). There is a tiny fleck of repainting in the upper oval frame, along the upper and lower margins. Apart from this there is no apparent restoration. This lot is offered unframed.
