Description

  • Michiel Gast
  • Lot with his daughters, Sodom and Gomorrah burning in the distance
  • oil on canvas, laid on oak panel, circular

Condition

The panel is flat and stable. The picture has recently been cleaned and restored and appears in good overall condition. There has been a degree of restoration to small losses and wear around the centre of the upper edge, to the foreground and the dark areas either side of the figures and beneath the ruins behind on the right, as well as some minor local spot retouchings elsewhere. The varnish is clear and even and the painting should not require any further attention. Offered with a later gilt wood frame, many damages.
