Description

  • Joseph Plepp
  • Still life of a plate of apples alongside a radish, a knife, roses in a glass vase, a wine glass, figs and more apples on a wooden table top
  • oil on canvas

Condition

The canvas has been relined and may have been trimmed slightly along and the upper and right hand edges. The paint surface has a new varnish but is otherwise dirty. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals only a few scattered minor re-strengthenings to the shadows under the knife, in the radish, the rim of the plate, the leaves to the left of the peaches, the background behind the wine glass and along the upper margin. The remainder of the paint surface appears to be in well-preserved. Offered in a later stain wood frame with gilt sight edge, numerous small damages.
