來源

With Galerie de Jonckheere, Paris;
Acquired from the above by the parents of the present owners in 1993, for 600,000 French francs.

Condition

The panel is flat, stable and uncradled. It has been bevelled on all but the left hand edge, but has probably been reduced on its upper edge. The painting is in good overall condition. The panel has recently been cleaned and restored. Inspection under ultra violet reveals extensive retouching to much of the sky, mostly to fine details of the wood grain but including a repaired damage of c.2 x 4 cm in the centre. The trees and buildings are very well preserved, and the river has only local retouchings. The restoration has been well carried out and is completely invisible to the naked eye. The painting will require no further attention. Offered in a modern ebonised wood frame in good condition.
