Condition
The panels are flat and cradled. The paint surface is in overall stable condition. There are three surface cracks from the upper edge of the right hand panel, the longest of which measures 2 cm. There is some wear of the paint surface to skin tone. There is delicate under drawing visible in the faces and hands of many of the figures. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals in the left hand panel retouching to the margins, to the back of the bed and to some of the robes of the figures on the floor. In the right hand panel there is older retouching in the sky and the aforementioned cracks, as well as to the margins. Newer retouching consist only of tiny scattered specks.
Offered in an old painted and gilded wood frame, aged but in fine condition.
