Condition
The canvas has been relined , the paint surface is stable, and protected by a thick varnish. There is a tiny flake of missing paint in the leaf upper right, and in the grapes lower right, where the ground layer is visible. A minor surface scratch, inverted L-shaped, measuring 33 by 16 cm, in the lower right. Inspection under UV light reveals infilling of craquelure throughout, but especially in the left hand side. Old restoration consists of retouching throughout the foliage and to small areas in the plumage of the red macaw. Newer restoration consists of one spot of retouching in a leaf, and some minor infilling of craquelure.
This lot is sold in a gilt frame with decorative mouldings, in good condition.
