- oil on oak panel, the reverse with the brand of the City of Antwerp and the maker's mark FdB (Francois de Bout)
Provenance
With Soiron and Missotten, Liège (their label affixed to the reverse).
Condition
The panel is uncradled, flat and stable. The paint surface has very recently been well cleaned and restored. There are no major damages, only scattered minor retouchings, and repairs to the two panel joins.

We are grateful to Fred G. Meijer for confirming the attribution on the basis of photographs. The composition was engraved in the same sense by Samuel Gränicher (1773–1813) (fig. 1). A much larger version, on canvas measuring 168 by 215 cm., was sold Paris, Tajan, 21 June 2010, lot 147 (as circle of Jan Fyt).
