Provenance
By descent since the late eighteenth century in the collection of the Day family of Hinton House, Hinton Charterhouse, near Bath.
Condition
The work is painted on three vertical panels, supported along the joins by wooden staples. There is old beveling along all four sides, which has been evened out with wooden additions. The panels are uncradled, and are flat and stable.
The paint surface is even and in very good condition, with the thickness of paint in the detailed areas preserved. The varnish is old and yellowed. There are minor spot retouchings throughout. This lot is offered in a moulded gilt frame, in fairly good condition.
