Description
- Adriaen Thomasz. Key
- Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, wearing a white ruff
- oil on oak panel
Condition
A single panel, uncradled, flat and in very stable condition. It is bevelled on the upper, lower and right hand side, and to a lesser degree on the left hand side. There are signs of old woodworm along the left edge, especially towards the upper corner. The paints surface is even and there are no signs of paint flaking. The varnish is old and dicsoloured. There is old retouching to three flecks of lost paint in the man's beard, to a number of small damages in his forehead, far left and far right. Two tiny specks in his ear and on his temple, and a small damage at the top of his forehead by the hairline. There is an area of background (6x3cm) behind his right shoulder that seems to have had restrengthening.
