Description

  • Portrait of a young man, probably a self-portrait
  • oil on oak panel, the reverse branded with the Antwerp panel-maker's mark of Lambrecht Steen (active 1597–1625)

Condition

The panel has slightly bowed convex. It is uncradled and appears in very good condition with no splits. The paint surface is in good condition with well-preserved colours. There is a slightly stronger craquelure on the left hand side of the boy's face, which has been infilled. A vertical 6 cm restoration in the lower left corner. This lot is offered in a wooden frame, in good condition.
