Description
- A pair of altar wings: The first: The Supper at Emmaus; verso: Saint Agatha The second: The Resurrection; verso: Saint Margaret of Antioch
- a pair, both oil on oak panel
Provenance
Private collection, Maastricht.
Condition
Both panels are stable and flat. The paint surface is stable, the colours are very strong. On the outer sides showing the two saints there are retouchings to the craquelure in the background, to the dragon at the lower edge, and a few tiny restorations scattered in the figures' faces and clothing. The inner sides showing the scenes from Christ's life are very well-preserved, the paint surface is thick and stable. There is an uneven varnish and a few tiny restorations scattered around Christ's face in the scene of the Supper at Emmaus, visible under Ultarviolet light.
The altar wings are offered without a frame.
